產業先驅組成Wireless Gigabit Alliance 力促60 秭赫 (GHz)無線通訊技術
橫跨電腦、消費性電子產品、手持以及半導體等產業齊力打造高速無線產業鏈
SAN JOSE, Calif. – May 7, 2009 – 超過15 家高科技公司今日共同宣布Wireless Gigabit (WiGig)聯盟的成立。此聯盟成立的目的是希望藉由跨產業合作，齊力打造60 秭赫(60 Gigahertz，GHz)無線通訊技術的統一規格。由於對於隨時隨地獲得數位多媒體內容的需求，以及高速無線環境的要求與日俱增，現有的無線通訊標準已面臨考驗，亟須制訂新一代標準，以因應未來同步高速檔案傳輸、無線影像及多媒體傳輸的需求。為此WiGig 聯盟正積極發展60 秭赫無線通訊技術來為消費性電子商品、手持裝置以及個人電腦等裝置之間的無線聯結打造一個極致的高速環境。
WiGig 通訊規格將可以使終端產品在一般室內環境裡以高達每秒數十億位元的速度無線聯結。聯盟主要的遠景，是希望基於此一規格，為下一代數位影音娛樂、電腦以及通訊裝置打造一個相較於以往無線區域網路10 倍速以上、全世界通用的高速無線使用環境。
讓橫跨無線通訊半導體、電腦、消費性電子以及手持裝置的領導廠商齊聚一堂，WiGig 聯盟希望群策群力打造一個讓全世界多種無線裝置與應用均能相容、並兼顧效能以及節能的統一規格 -60 秭赫無線通訊技術。此一遠景希望能帶動一個使用方便、高速並兼顧節能的無線產品產業鏈。以下詳列出聯盟理事會成員，其中包括：
