產業先驅加入 WiGig Alliance 力促新一代無線通訊技術
新成員來自半導體，系統，以及測試儀器等產業
BEAVERTON, Ore.－2009年9月17日－為了持續邁向統一下一代無線影像，數據，及多媒體傳輸的目標 ，Wireless Gigabit (WiGig ) 聯盟今日宣布五位新成員的加入。如今WiGig旗下之 20 餘家半導體以及系統廠商，包括新理事會成員Toshiba (東芝)以及新會員Agilent Technologies (安捷倫) ，Beam Networks，Ralink Technology Corporation (雷凌) ， 和 Texas Instruments (德州儀器) 將攜手發展每秒數十億位元速度的無線通訊技術來為消費性電子商品，手持裝置以及個人電腦等裝置之間的無線聯結打造一個極致的高速環境。基於WiGig既有的雄厚技術研發能力，這些新成員為WiGig帶來更多建立一個跨產業商品環境所需的特有專長。

WiGig 聯盟的成員正齊力發展一個統一通訊規格。聯盟主要的遠景，是希望基於此一規格在一般室內環境裡為下一代消費性電子商品，手持裝置以及個人電腦等裝置打造一個相較於以往無線區域網路 10 倍速以上，全世界通用的高速無線使用環境。利用不用授權的 60 秭赫頻段，WiGig技術不只將能滿足多種無線裝置與平台在效能及節能上的需求，它將會與現今及未來全世界大量通用的802.11 裝置相容。此一遠景希望能帶動一個使用方便，高速並兼顧節能的無線產品產業鏈。 WiGig規格預計於2009年底提供給聯盟會員。同時，WiGig也在制定一個相互操作性測試的認證計劃。此次新成員所帶來的測試儀器專長將有助於加速發展此認證計劃。WiGig聯盟將全力確保WiGig認證裝置之間的相容性以推廣業界對WiGig技術的採納。
